What:       New England’s premiere QRP gathering – a weekend of QRP camping, BBQ eating, operating, socializing, lobster eating, giant kite flying, prize winning, all round great QRP time. See  NEQRP for pictures of past  Lobstercons.  A $40.00 registration fee gets you wake-up coffee & donuts ( if you wake up early enough), 2 meals on Saturday: a BBQ lunch and FRESH lobster dinner. Lobstercon lobsters are so fresh they are guaranteed to pinch you before they go into the pot (but we keep the rubber bands on 'em for your safety & protection) We also have raffle prizes, unlimited hobnobbing and construction contest. Camping reservations should be made directly with the campground. Don't forget to mention that you are with those crazy radio people! They will give you the special rate. Preregistered AND prepaid parties will receive a special Lobstercon kit ( 1 kit per party please... ) to be used in the Lobstercon construction contest.

News:

1.) Dates are July 6, 7 & 8 2012.  I have NOW reconfirmed confirmed the dates with the campground and that there is no problem with campers coming early. We had quite a few show up on Thursday and even some on Wednesday. Early bird campers are welcome on Thursday the 5th at the special $8 rate. You can also show up on July 4th but the regular $25 camping fee will apply for July 4th camping.

2.) Note from Patti, the campground owner:
The SPECIAL Lobstercon camping rate is $8pp PER DAY plus 7% tax for July 5, 6, 7 & 8

Early arrival Lobsterconners are welcomed in the group site on July 4th at the regular park camping fee of $25 per camping unit /family of 2 adults and 2 children.
It would be best if most camping reservations are made on-line through the TPB website. The camping request is in the camping section...or you can call 1-207-725-6009.

3.) As soon as I have some time, pictures from previous years events will be found here.

4.) There is a discussion group  4DIJ-L (4 days in July) for everyone interested in Lobstercon & Salmoncon (and other similar events) to network and stay up to date. It has not been active since last year but I will post new info there as I get it. Check out the info page and sign up. General information about the mailing list is at:

To post to this list, send your email to (after you sign up of course):

            <<  4dij-l@mailman.qth.net >>

5.) You can also tune in to the latest updates at the Lobstercon blog:

                <<  http://blog.lobstercon.me >>

6.) Once again, I will be actively promoting the idea of other QRP groups camping out the same weekend or at least meeting on Saturday for additional QRP signal snatching fun.  QRP groups all over the country camping out,  signals flying around everywhere, Qs being made, a real movement underfoot!   Now we need a groups in other areas on the country to join in on the fun so we can have a QRP feast in July, So you might want to get in on the ground floor with the 4DIJ-L (thats: 4 Days in July) discussion list. Probably (& hopefully) won't be a BIG high traffic list,  just a solid group interested in QRPing & camping that single weekend in July.

I guess that is all for now. Please stay tuned for more. See you there!   W1REX
